Ministries approve the five-day holiday proposal
The ministries of Information and Communications, Home Affairs, Transport, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour have agreed with the proposal of having a full five-day holiday
The ministries of Information and Communications, Home Affairs, Transport, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour have agreed with the proposal of having a full five-day holiday in the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) this year.
Workers will have days off from April 27 to May 1. The normal working day on April 29 will be exchanged and compensated on another day.
Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Ngọ Duy Hiểu stated that the confederation has conducted a social media survey with 3,590 trade union officials and workers. Of that, 3,129 votes are in favour of the exchange, accounting for 87 per cent, 302 votes against the proposal, accounting for 8 per cent, and the rest were other suggestions.
Based on the survey results, the confederation agreed with the draft proposal from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs regarding the exchanging the normal working day for full five-day holiday.
The arrangement of exchanging working days will help officials, civil servants, employees, and workers to have five consecutive days off. This will provide them with opportunities for entertainment, thereby contributing to stimulating tourism, social consumption, and promoting economic growth.
At the same time, the exchange will not change the working time fund of officials, civil servants, employees, and workers.
The confederation proposed that the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs determine the compensatory working day for April 29 and provide guidance on the salary for the compensatory working day in case the compensatory working day falls on a weekly day off.
Earlier, the Ministries of Information and Communications, Home Affairs, and Transport had issued documents agreeing with the draft document of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
